Sarah Darrah

Senior Associate

Sarah joined Finance Earth in 2021 and works across a range of natural capital investment advisory and fund design projects. 

Since joining Finance Earth, Sarah has led the development of natural capital investment opportunities for the Greater Manchester Environment Fund, a blended finance facility for the Greater Manchester region. Additionally, Sarah has supported local authorities on Environmental Land Management (ELM) scheme tests and trials. She has also developed economic feasibility assessments for an agroforestry carbon code, designed biodiversity and carbon income models for peatland habitats, and supported Heal Rewilding in developing a blueprint for financing rewilding projects. Sarah also led the design of an impact and monitoring framework for the UK Nature Impact Fund.

Prior to joining Finance Earth, Sarah worked in biodiversity, conservation and impact metrics, developing expertise in monitoring international science-based targets to inform sustainability policy. As a project manager at the UN Environment Programme’s World Conservation Monitoring Centre, Sarah led the development of the Wetland Extent Trends Index to monitor progress towards water-related biodiversity targets and the Sustainable Development Goals. Sarah has international experience in environmental policy development and biodiversity research, having previously worked in Indonesia and Kenya.

Sarah holds an MSc in Conservation Science from Imperial College London, and a BA in Biological Sciences from the University of Oxford. Sarah has also published two academic journal papers on global conservation trends.
