Richard Fitton
Investment Director
Richard joined Finance Earth in 2019 and co-leads the UK Nature Impact Fund team.
Since joining Finance Earth, Richard has led advisory projects for a wide array of public, private, and philanthropic clients including United Utilities, Norfolk Rivers Trust, and the World Water Council. He also leads policy and advocacy work, including advising the UK Government, as well as the Scottish and Welsh devolved governments, on natural capital market barriers, opportunities, and policy mechanisms to scale investment in nature.
Richard worked closely on the design and development of the Greater Manchester Environment Fund (GMEF), a blended finance vehicle aimed to strategically align public and philanthropic funds to raise private finance for environmental and community benefit. In addition, he has advised the RSPB – the UK’s largest conservation charity – on a range of private finance opportunities. He is also leading the design of and fundraising for the UK Nature Impact Fund.
Richard’s background is in corporate finance across M&A and capital markets in the UK and Asia. Prior to joining Finance Earth, Richard spent four years in Ho Chi Minh City at Vietnam’s leading investment bank, helping some of the country’s largest companies to list on the local stock market and raise capital from global institutional investors.
Richard has a first-class BA (Hons) in History from the University of Bristol, and an MSc in Sustainable Energy from the Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) in Wales, where his dissertation focused on the monetary valuation of ecosystem services from freshwater habitats.
