Tomás joined Finance Earth in September 2024 and supports across a range of natural capital investment advisory projects.
Since joining Finance Earth, Tomás has supported the delivery of the Carbon Accelerator Programme for the Environment (CAPE), working in partnership with FSD Africa to develop and implement an accelerator for high-integrity nature-based carbon projects in Africa. Tomás is also supporting Fair Carbon on the design of a Blue Carbon Accelerator which aims to provide whole lifecycle support to marine-based carbon projects, from pre-feasibility to investment readiness.
Prior to joining Finance Earth, Tomás was a Project Manager at Flying Forests, where he co-designed a proof of concept for using drone-planting technology in large-scale restoration efforts across the Peruvian Amazon. Tomás has experience developing equitable Nature-based Solutions from design to implementation, and possesses specialised knowledge of environmental issues across Latin America, with a particular focus on his home country, Peru. His expertise is complemented by innovative research experience, having co-led a study in Madre de Dios, Peru, that used board games to analyse the impact of external interventions, such as REDD+ projects, on agroecological systems. This approach provided insights into agricultural expansion dynamics and local perceptions of forest conservation initiatives.
Tomás holds an MSc in Conservation from University College London, where his dissertation focused on marine resources governance in Scotland. He also has a Bachelor’s degree in Geography and Environmental Sciences from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. Tomás is bilingual in English and Spanish.
