Sanchi Gupta

Associate Director

Sanchi joined Finance Earth in 2021 and leads work across a range of natural capital investment advisory projects in the UK.

Since joining Finance Earth, Sanchi has worked with various public sector and non-profit organisations on the development of innovative models incorporating the sale of ecosystem services – such as carbon sequestration, emissions reductions, and biodiversity uplift – across terrestrial and marine habitats. Her work also focuses on ensuring these models are backed by robust financing structures and governance frameworks.

She has supported Plymouth City Council in establishing a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to facilitate the sale of biodiversity offsets, and helped to secure £500,000 in investment for local habitat restoration. In addition, Sanchi has contributed to the development of new carbon codes and standards in the UK, including the Saltmarsh Carbon Code, and supported the process of developing high-integrity principles for payments for ecosystem services across markets.

Prior to joining Finance Earth, Sanchi worked in strategy consulting at Boston Consulting Group’s India offices, focusing on public sector and social impact projects. She also worked in public policy, advising Indian parliamentarians as a Legislative Aide. Her experience spans a range of Indian and international projects, from developing a foreign government fund’s solar energy investment strategy to advising a company on its corporate social responsibility strategy.

Sanchi holds an MSc in Environmental Policy and Regulation from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a BA (Hons) in Political Science from the University of Delhi. She is bilingual in English and Hindi.
