Fraser O’Halloran

Senior Associate

Fraser joined Finance Earth in 2022 and works across a range of natural capital investment advisory projects.

Since joining Finance Earth, Fraser has worked with the UBS Optimus Foundation to design, structure, and implement innovative financing mechanisms which sufficiently incentivise nature-based carbon projects to deliver additional and verifiable nature and livelihood outcomes. As part of this work, Fraser helped structure a $1.1 million impact loan to finance the implementation of a 350,000-hectare community-led REDD+ project in Tanzania; the loan’s interest rate is linked to the project’s performance against pre-determined KPIs, ensuring enhanced community impact and value retention. Fraser is also working with FSD Africa to develop, implement, and manage CAPE, an accelerator for high-integrity nature-based carbon projects in Africa.

Fraser has also supported a range of organisations in the UK in exploring effective ways to engage with nature markets. His work has included helping Lloyds Banking Group develop high-potential commercial opportunities linked to investments in nature, and advising NGOs such as WeForest and The National Forest Company on how to best leverage nature markets to catalyse and scale their restoration efforts. In addition, Fraser contributed to wider natural capital market development through his involvement in the TNFD UK Consultation Group and Verra’s Nature Framework Advisory Board.

Prior to joining Finance Earth, Fraser worked as a project manager at CDP where he supported financial institutions in incorporating water and nature-related risk and impact within their investment decisions.

Fraser holds an MSc in Water Science, Policy and Management from the University of Oxford, and a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Science from Lancaster University.
