Alex Hume

Senior Associate Director

Alex joined Finance Earth in 2019 and leads work across a range of natural capital investment advisory and fund design projects in the UK and internationally. 

From 2020 to April 2024 Alex acted as a technical and transactional advisor to CORE LLP, an award-winning £50 million renewable energy fund focused on developing the UK community energy market. In this role, Alex led across operational management and optimisation, while also leading key transactional workstreams in the refinancing, final exit, and closure of the fund.

Alex has broad experience across UK natural capital markets and products. He works closely with an array of local planning authorities throughout the UK in the design and implementation of natural capital approaches, most recently developing Plymouth City Council’s Ocean City Nature strategy. Similarly, he works closely with several of Finance Earth’s partners to unlock new Nature-based Solutions and funding streams for the protection and restoration of the UK’s natural assets. In addition, Alex has supported both the UK government and devolved governments on the design of ecosystem service market support mechanisms.

Alex has a BA (Hons) in History from Lincoln College, University of Oxford.
